1. Candidate Overview

Hi my name is Jed Thomsen, and I’m in my final year of chiropractic college, graduating in 2025. I’m very manually focused in my approach, with most of my practice members on diversified styles of adjustments. I also use a fair amount of Gonstead in my care and have chosen advanced Gonstead as my elective. I’m taking it not for the disc-focused philosophy, but to further refine my manual adjusting skills and expand my toolbox. My focus is more on the central nervous system and how movement impacts neurology. I believe that movement in our spine equals neurology, and that restoring proper spinal motion is essential for promoting wellness and optimal function. This philosophy applies across all types of care, whether I’m working with families, athletes, or anyone seeking to improve how their body performs and functions.

2. Clinical Skills & Patient Care

At this point in time, I do not have one specific area of clinical focus, but I have found that working with families and supporting them through chiropractic care is incredibly rewarding. That said, I want to maintain a diverse patient base and see a wide variety of cases. I currently see a mid-range volume at our college chiropractic center, averaging around 8 to 9 patient visits per shift. My current PVA is 12.31. I am comfortable adjusting patients across all age groups. I care for several geriatric patients using manual techniques, I have visited teenage pregnancy units to adjust infants, and I regularly care for a three-year-old who I adjust manually or with an activator when needed. I enjoy working with all types of people and adapting my approach based on their individual needs.

When it comes to patient education, I focus on the movement of the spine and how restoring proper motion supports the central nervous system. I build high-frequency care plans around long-term function and wellness. I prefer to keep care goal-driven rather than symptom-focused. While symptom relief has its place, I often use symptoms as a teaching tool, helping patients understand that symptoms are the body’s way of signaling that something is going on. But I find it far more meaningful and engaging when care is centered around the their goals like playing with their kids performing better in sports or simply feeling more connected in their body

3. Professional Development & Career Growth

So far I have not taken any additional certifications or courses beyond attending Lyceum yearly. I have also had to opportunity to do the coke and went to Rarotonga for the mission trip.

4. Team & Workplace Preferences

I do not have a specific preference for work environment or clinic culture. I am very open to all kinds of clinics as long as I gel well with the team and feel a sense of belonging. I have plenty of experience working in team settings through various retail jobs, landscaping work, and now at the chiropractic center with other interns and mentors. I value building strong relationships with colleague. good communication and teamwork are essential for providing the best care and creating a positive work atmosphere.

5. Personal & Lifestyle Considerations

I am very open to working anywhere in the country or internationally and eager to get started in my career with a full time associate position. I value having a healthy work life balance because I do not want my job to consume me or become my entire identity, I still want time for hiking and surfing. That said, I am highly motivated and ready to hit the ground running. I look forward to being proactive in building my patient base and establishing strong, lasting relationships with those I care for. Growing a loyal practice and helping patients achieve their goals is something I am passionate about, and I am committed to providing consistent, high-quality care for the foreseeable future.
