Research for Beginners

Info Needs: brainstorming, key questions, key words
Finding Information: catalogue, the web, journals, databases, statistics, government sources
Selecting Information: what’s good and what’s not, and why
Using Information: referencing, copyright and plagiaris
An introduction to research and resource-learning activities is included

- Journals, reference sources and statistics
- Introduction to quality reference sources for your course. Including academic journals, when is an article a good article, online encyclopaedias and dictionaries.
- Database research
- Learn to find articles on your topic using a specified database – e.g. how best to use Index to Chiropractic, ScienceDirect, PubMed and others.
- Referencing workshops
- Practice referencing books, journal articles, online articles & websites.
