Nathan McCann

My name is Nathan McCann, and I am a fifth-year chiropractic student at the New Zealand College of Chiropractic with a passion for helping people unlock their full potential through chiropractic care.
I have a particular interest in sports chiropractic and aspire to work not only with athletes and active individuals, but also people from different age groups and all walks of life. I want to explore what health means through encompassing chiropractic, movement, and rehabilitation. My background in sports, along with my own experiences with injury, has shaped my understanding of the physical and mental demands placed on the body and inspired my interest to help others achieve both greater performance and everyday well-being.

Throughout my studies, I have developed a genuine curiosity about different chiropractic techniques, including Manual Diversified, Advanced BioStructural Correction (ABC), Neuro Emotional Technique (NET), Sacro Occipital Technique (SOT), Thompson, and Activator Methods. While I only have experience in using techniques taught at the college, such as Upper Cervical, Gonstead, Manual Diversified and Activator, I would love to explore these other techniques with chiropractors who utilise this type of adjusting. I am particularly interested in how these techniques can be adapted to suit individual presentations and support each patient’s unique goals.

I believe that effective care goes beyond the adjustment itself. I think it’s about clear communication, building strong relationships, and inspiring patients to take an active role in their health.
I’m eager to join a clinic that values clinical excellence, mentorship, strong patient connections, and ongoing growth opportunities. I look forward to meeting future employers who share these values and who are equally excited in taking on a young graduate with like-minded goals.

As I near the completion of my fifth and final year of chiropractic studies, my goal for this career fair is to connect with different clinics and chiropractors across New Zealand and Australia who value diverse approaches to care, mentorship, and a collaborative team environment focusing on patient oriented care.
I am particularly interested in practices that:

• Embrace the role of sports chiropractic and functional rehabilitation, combining chiropractic care and exercise to optimise performance, prevent injury, and support recovery.

• Provide an environment where ongoing learning, professional development, and collaboration are encouraged.

My ideal future is working in a sports-focused chiropractic clinic somewhere in Australasia or New Zealand where I can apply and continue to develop my passion for working with athletes and active individuals.
