The population includes a vibrant mix of European, Maori, Polynesian and Asian cultures. This diversity is reflected in a variety of ways – through the local cuisine, community festivals and some unique educational programmes.

Known as the “City of Sails” – Auckland is a water-lover’s paradise, with the largest boat ownership per capita in the world, and home to the America’s Cup Village. Built on an isthmus between two harbours, Auckland is surrounded by sub-tropical islands, sparkling waters and lush native forests. With 23 regional parks, 2 marine reserves, 100km of coastline, more than 500km of walking tracks and 48 volcanic cones, Auckland’s lifestyle has been regularly voted as one of the best in the world.
