The Bachelor of Chiropractic (BChiro) is five years of study. Four years are completed at the New Zealand College of Chiropractic and one prerequisite year of basic science study must be completed prior to starting at the College.
Our recommended prerequisite programme is the Diploma in Applied Science Pre-Chiropractic at Auckland University of Technology (AUT).
How to apply:
- You need to request an application form
- The College will provide you an approval letter after receipt of your completed application form. This is a requirement for your application into the AUT Diploma in Applied Science Pre-Chiropractic.
- It is your responsibility to apply for the Diploma in Applied Science Pre-Chiropractic and to meet AUT’s entry requirements.

Where else can you complete prerequisite courses?
You can complete your prerequisite courses at other universities in New Zealand. The following programmes cover some or all of the prerequisite courses but you must apply to the New Zealand College of Chiropractic to approve the prerequisite courses.

You can also complete the basic science courses at most universities. They are usually covered in the first year of a General Science, Health Science or Exercise and Sport Science degree.
What if you have already studied?
If you have previously or are currently enrolled in science courses, you may have met the prerequisite requirements (see table below). All prerequisite courses must be equivalent to the New Zealand Qualification Authority (NZQA) Level 5 or higher.
